Welcome to G.L.A.D. Masters Swim club
Who We Are
GLAD -- Green Lake Aqua Ducks -- is a member of both the national master swimmers organization -- United States Masters Swimmers (USMS) -- and the regional Pacific Northwest Association of Master Swimmers (PNA).
GLAD has been an active club for motivated adult swimmers since 1989. In keeping with the tenets of masters swimming, GLAD is open to swimmers with a wide range of abilities although workouts are intended to be challenging with the goal of building endurance and pace, as well as improving stroke technique. Lanes are arranged according to speed to the extent possible. Lane placement is determined by our coach in consultation with each swimmer.
Members of GLAD participate in various PNA swim meets during the year, particularly the annual PNA Champs event which is typically held in April at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Click here for the PNA calendar.
In addition to keeping current with GLAD dues or paying the drop-in fee (see below for details), all those in the pool for our workouts must be current members of USMS.

Workouts and Inclement Weather
Though, due to recent snow, ice, and very iffy driving conditions, there have been multiple pool closures/workout cancellations. Conditions have moderated and workouts have resumed. If very wintry conditions return, decisions will be made on a day-to-day basis in consultation with the View Ridge Pool Manager.
The best way to keep informed about workout status is to subscribe to our team email list. Emails have gone out every day recently to keep team members informed.
If you are not currently subscribed to our list -- and would like to be -- send a request to email@example.com. Please be sure to include your name and the email address.

+View Ridge is an outdoor pool
*with a team name like Green Lake Aqua Ducks, one would think we would be swimming at the pool in the Green Lake Community Center. Because high school swim teams affect the pool schedule during their season, GLAD has relocated to View Ridge instead of having to schedule its workouts at 4:30 a.m. At present, GLAD plans on continuing to hold its workouts at View Ridge Pool at 5:00 a.m. through the fall of 2019.
Information about View Ridge Swim & Tennis Club is available here.

RELAY FOR GLAD FUNDRAISER
Started in 2018, GLAD has an initiative to help the team come closer to meeting its financial obligations.
Our goal: $3000 in 2019
We're asking for contributions by check. Checks should be made out to GLAD which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization so your contribution is tax-deductible.
Please write on the memo line: Relay Fund Contribution
Checks can be brought to workout and handed to Robin, Arni, or David. You can also mail your check to:
1920 10th Ave E
Seattle WA 98102-4253
Please consider helping anchor the RELAY FOR GLAD FUND!
Check out how we're doing with the progress bar below.
When you need swimming gear, click here or on the logo to the left. You'll be taken to a special SwimOutlet website where you can shop around for the new suits, paddles, fins, pull buoys, etc., that you need. The great thing is that a percentage of anything you buy via that site will go to GLAD! You'll get aqua gear and GLAD gets a little bonus, too. Is that a great idea or what??? Try it!
Another way to benefit GLAD and to get your stuff on Amazon is to order through smile.amazon.com. You can get all the same stuff as regular Amazon. Designate GLAD as the non-profit you want to support and a percentage of all purchases goes to GLAD. Prices are not higher at smile.amazon.com.
Buy your stuff a smile.amazon.com and support GLAD.
Note for those who shop with smartphones and tablets:
The Amazon app for those devices does not, at present, connect to Amazon Smile. However, all you have to do is use your device's web browser to navigate to smile.amazon.com and you're there.
