GLAD has suffered a profound loss with the passing of Jesse Pace. The following is a brief remembrance and appreciation.
Back in late 2001, when Green Lake Aqua Duck’s founding coach, Robin O’Leary, decided to no longer coach or lead GLAD, the team had a fundamental decision to make about its future, namely.....
Can and should GLAD continue to exist?
Jesse and Clark continued to guide, nourish, and shepherd GLAD in those first years of its new identity. In 2001, Jesse served as the first President of the “new” GLAD. Clark also served on the Board. Somewhere around 2005, though, Jesse and Clark moved to Florida. The GLAD team they helped build has keenly missed them ever since.
As Clark would be the first to admit, Jesse brought a spark, a joy, a smile, a spirit, an extremely infectious laugh, an ability to not take herself too seriously -- she could be so funny! I was just reminded today of her nickname: Chainsaw! Jesse was so hysterical!
Jesse lit up any room she entered and enlivened any group of people she was with. Everyone wanted Jesse as a friend.
So, for those of us who knew and laughed with Jesse, let's look at these pictures and remember, smile and chuckle. To those of you who did not know her, look at these pictures and you’ll see someone you would have loved to have in your life.
We will miss Jesse forever.

Can and should GLAD continue to exist?
- should it take the steps to incorporate as a non-profit?
- elect a Board?
- formulate and approve bylaws?
- where’s a pool to rent?
- who’s going to coach?
- how to set up team finances, charge dues?
- keep the Green Lake Aqua Ducks name?
