NEWS BLITZ -- FEBRUARY 24, 2022 -- FROM PREZ GEOFFREY
To All:
Again, we appreciate everyone’s patience during the recent pool closure for maintenance. Amazing what a proper seal can do on a boiler and pump. Timing was good given that the temps got down into the mid teen’s. Balmy 37 degrees of late. Perfect with 82 water temp. Harold our webmaster is right, the days are getting a wee bit longer! We’re still troubleshooting the pool lights at the far end that don’t work some mornings. All good – we’ll get that tweaked.
A HUGE HUGE thanks to all the fill-in coaches during crazy December and when Coach Dave was out recently. Emma Song, Tonya Berg, Paul Ikeda and Bill Reeder you guys rock. Keeps GLAD rolling.

Events and Happenings:
- New fresh GLAD Hoodies and Big GLAD Beach Towels are in the works. Big time stuff! Hope to have this new merchandise for folks in March. Sneak peek preview coming soon. Thanks to Jan Acuff, Tonya Berg and Jane Matera for taking this on.
- Enrollment is up. We actually had 71 different swimmers attend practices over the first two weeks in December. Awesome! Credit to our wonderful coaches and super Dave T. Sign-up for Remind. GLAD uses this instant messaging app now for more urgent messages like pool closures. It doesn’t replace the weekly e-mails.
- GLAD will host two very informal “meets” during two of our practices this year. One in late Spring and one in the Fall. Just a handful of events and relays to liven things up. Outside lanes will still be open for swim, warm-up and warm-down. More to follow.
- Check out the upcoming Thunderbird Aquatic Club Masters Sweetheart Challenge meet in Anacortes. Originally scheduled for February, it’s been re-scheduled for March 27th. More info about this and other upcoming PNA meets available here.
- Save the Date. Sunday March 20th 1030am – 100pm GLAD Brunch Pot Luck hosted by yours truly. Featuring southern style Jimmy Miller French Toast. You’re in for a treat. (assuming we’re a bit more out of the Covid woods – we’ll see)
